Stress-Relief
Recapture Peace and Tranquility |
Stress! It’s a fact of daily life. Too much stress can zap our energy; make us feel irritable, angry or even sad.  Stress causes some people to sleep too much while other people have difficulty falling, or staying, asleep.
To be sure, stress can negatively affect our health, happiness, and general well-being.
Everybody experiences stress. Some people try to cope by distracting themselves with negative behaviors, such as overeating and drinking, but find that this only increases their levels of stress. Other people try to avoid the stressors themselves but find their lives more stressful due to the increased limitations that they place on themselves.
It is impossible to completely avoid stress. We can, however, learn to manage stress. Hypnosis is one of the most effective techniques for managing stress.
Let me explain.
Stress activates the fight or flight response which alters body chemistry. I’m sure you’ve had the experience of feeling your heart racing during a time of extreme stress. That is a symptom of the flight or fight response, stress causes your blood vessels to constrict causing an increase in blood pressure and heart rate. If these changes occur for prolonged periods of time, they can strain the body and, eventually, lead to physical illness. Among these physiological changes is an increase in brain waves; around 14-22 cycles per second for a state of alertness and 23-33 cycles per second for a state of high tension.
Hypnosis slows brain waves down to 6-8 cycles per second. It allows the body to experience alert relaxation, allowing the blood vessels to dilate, blood pressure to lower, the heart rate to decrease and the muscles to completely relax.
With hypnosis, you can learn how to activate this relaxing state while remaining alert. This will give you control of your response to stressful situations. You learn to completely relax, quickly and easily, whenever you want to relax. Hypnosis can help you to regain a positive mental attitude in addition to managing situational stress, even if it is for a short amount of time. The benefits of hypnosis are endless.
